City of Boulder Compatible Development Ordinance: Latest Updates
- July 28, 2009: AIA Colorado North Board of Directors' Letter Boulder City Council
- August 2, 2009: AIA Colorado North Guest Commentary in the Daily Camera
On July 9, 2009, Boulder City Council met to discuss the proposed Compatible Development Ordinance. After careful review of the implications of this legislation, the AIA Colorado North board of directors strongly opposes its adoption. While the board appreciates the amount of thought that went in to the development of the ordinance and understands its intent, it feels that this ordinance will have far reaching and unintended negative consequences on the city, its residents and the architects who practice there.
All AIA Colorado North members are encouraged to review the ordinance and the above letter from the AIA Colorado North Board of Directors to Boulder City Council. Then, contact City Council directly and ask them to reject the Compatible Development Ordinance.
Additionally, members are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming City Council meetings about the ordinance:
- Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 5 p.m.: First reading and public hearing on the Compatible Development Ordinance
- Tuesday, Aug. 18: Second reading on the Compatible Development Ordinance
Contact AIA Colorado Director of Local Chapters Robin Hickey at 303.446.2266, ext. 115 with questions.
