About AIA Denver's Review of the New Zoning Code

The City of Denver released the final draft of its new form-based zoning code on Jan. 20. Denver is the first large city in the country to undertake a complete reformatting of its zoning code and associated zoning map under a “form-based” and “context-based” approach. This new code will have a significant impact on how architects practice in the City of Denver for many years to come.

The AIA Denver board of directors and two AIA Denver committees are reviewing the new code closely. A series of meetings have been and continue to be held with AIA Denver members, allied professionals and organizations, the Denver Zoning Code Task Force, and the Community Planning and Development Department.  Due to the magnitude of changes in the code and the short review period afforded by the City, assistance is needed in determining how the new code will impact the ability to practice in Denver. 

Any member who has a a recent or current project located in the City of Denver is asked to test this project under the new code and report findings to the chapter. Please contact the appropriate committee below for more information:
