Colorado Architecture Week

 

Colorado Architecture Month is a month-long celebration of Colorado architecture and design, hosted by The American Institute of Architects (AIA Colorado), with several free events and educational opportunities for the public. Events and programs range from educational seminars on how to work with an architect, to a merging of art and architecture during Architecture, Art and Appetizers, to the ever-popular Box City for Kids event, as well as Delicious Designs, a program that celebrates Colorado architecture through fun and creative desserts.

Architecturally designed birdhouses by University of Colorado ar Denver students, will be auctioned off at various Colorado Architecture Month events to benefit the animals at the Dumb Friends League in Denver. For more information, contact Molly Osadjan at molly@aiacolorado.org

Delicious Designs
A program that celebrates architecture through dessert for the month of April! This program is designed to draw attention to the importance of architecture and its effect on our everyday lives. Architecture has an impact on where you live, work, play...and eat! For a complete list of restaurants who have created a Delicious Design in celebration of Colorado Architecture Month, see below. Please note that the restaurants may serve their Delicious Design on select days in April.

Open to the Public
*A silent auction featuring architectural birdhouses designed by University of Colorado at Denver, College of Architecture and Planning students will be auctioned off at this event to beneft the animals at the Dumb Friends League.

Clifford Still Museum: The Final Design
Speaker: Brad Cloepfil, AIA, Allied Works Architecture (Portland, Ore.)
Since the schematic design unveiling, the museum design has advanced in exciting ways. Cloepfil will detail innovative solutions conceived to present Still's artworks.

Confluence: Social Responsibility > Sustainability

Saturday, April 17
Denver Box City for Kids (Educational Activity for Children)

Denver Box City for Kids, hosted by AIA Denver, is a very popular event where children experience the design and construction industry firsthand by requesting permits, ordering materials, designing buildings and constructing those buildings into a cardboard city.
Time: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Location: Wellington Webb Municipal Building, Atrium (201 W. Colfax, Denver, 80202)
Cost: Free, however, reservations are requested to ensure entry (call 303.446.2266, or e-mail nicolle@aiacolorado.org).



Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18
Doors Open Denver in Celebration with Colorado Architecture Month
Doors Open Denver consists of expert and self-guided tours of buildings in Denver.
Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Cost: Free, however, tickets for expert-guided tours are limited.

Colorado Springs Box City for Kids (Educational Activity for Children)
