Colorado Architecture Month is a month-long celebration of Colorado architecture and design, hosted by The American Institute of Architects Colorado component (AIA Colorado), with several free events for the public.

April 5 | Film Screening: Citizen Architect
Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio is a documentary film on the late architect Samuel Mockbee and the radical educational design/build program known as the Rural Studio. The Aspen film screening will take place on

The evening will begin with a reception and presentation on the restoration process of the Chief Theater. The presentation will be followed by a film screening of

April 5 | AIA Denver Open Studio! at Hangar 41
Open Studio! is an initiative with the purpose of reaching out to the community at large, raising awareness of architects as thought leaders and demystifying how they are making a better world through design of the built environment.
Small practitioners will show their work at

The Limiting Field, a lecture by Brad Cloepfil, AIA, of Allied Works Architecture, Inc. Brad Cloepfil, AIA, founding principal of Allied Works Architecture, will discuss recent projects in the U.S. and abroad, as well as the ideas and principles that form the basis of the rm's work. As architect of the Clyfford Still Museum, Cloepfil will focus on how these were realized in the museum's design and construction, and will discuss the challenges, opportunities and lessons of creating a single-artist museum in Denver's Civic Center. April 12 | Film Screening: Bird's Nest
Bird’s Nest: Herzog & de Meuron in China is a documentary about the building between two cultures, two architectural traditions and two political systems. Christoph Schaub and Michael Schindhelm show two very different building projects in China by the Basle-based star architects Herzog and de Meuron: the National Stadium for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and an entire district in the town of Jinhua.
