Colorado Architecture Month is a month-long celebration of Colorado architecture and design, hosted by The American Institute of Architects Colorado component (AIA Colorado), with several free events for the public. Events and programs include the ever-popular Box City for Kids event, as well as Delicious Designs, a program that celebrates Colorado architecture through fun and creative desserts. Delicious Designs

A program that celebrates architecture through dessert! This program is designed to draw attention to the importance of architecture and its impact on our everyday lives. Colorado Springs Box City for Kids (Educational Activity for Children)

Colorado Springs Box City for Kids, hosted by AIA Colorado South, is a very popular event where children experience the design and construction industry firsthand by requesting permits, ordering materials, designing buildings and constructing those buildings into a cardboard city.

Young Architects Awards Gala

The 12th Annual AIA Colorado Young Architects Awards is a program dedicated to honoring bright, young designers in the architectural community in 10 categories. Firms nominate passionate interns and young architects for the prestigious Intern of the Year, Young Firm of the Year and Young Architect of the Year awards. 

April 8
Steamboat Springs, Colo., Exhibit and Film Screening

"Architecture as Art" was comprised of an exhibit and film screening. "Celebrate Architecture," an exhibit of architectural models and renderings by Steamboat Springs architects took place at The Eleanor Bliss Center for the Arts at the Depot Art Center. The film "Santiago Calatrava’s Travels” was screened.

Grand Junction Film Screening

"Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio” film and panel discussion took place at The Art Center.

April 16
Denver Box City for Kids (Educational Activity for Children)

Denver Box City for Kids, hosted by AIA Denver, is a very popular event where children experience the design and construction industry firsthand by requesting permits, ordering materials, designing buildings and constructing those buildings into a cardboard city. The event took place at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building in the main atrium.

April 16 - 17
Doors Open Denver in Celebration with Colorado Architecture Month

Aspen, Colo., Film Screening

"Infinite Space: The Architecture of John Lautner” film screening took place at the Wheeler Opera House.

April 20
Frisco, Colo., Film Screening

"Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House" film screening took place in the Mt. Royal Room (upper level, across from library) in the County Commons Building.

April 21
Aspen's Architecture: Past, Present & Future Lecture

The American Institute of Architects Colorado West chapter (AIA Colorado West), the Aspen Art Museum, the Aspen Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), the Aspen Historical Society (AHS), and special guests explored Aspen’s significant architecture – past, present and future at the Aspen Center for Physics. For the first time, AIA Colorado North hosted Box City for Kids, a very popular event where children experience the design and construction industry firsthand by requesting permits, ordering materials, designing buildings and constructing those buildings into a cardboard city. This event took place at the Youth Activity Center in Fort Collins, Colo.
