Denver, September 5, 2017—American Institute of Architects (AIA) Colorado has hired two new staff members: Carin Poland as the executive and program assistant and Marisa Pooley as the marketing and communications manager.
Poland has an extensive background in program management, formerly the senior program manager and global grants manager at Western Union Foundation and a member of the Western Union Global Business Intelligence Team. Prior to that, Poland served as the consumer insights manager for the Coors brands portfolio at Coors Brewing Company.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University, and is currently a program committee chairperson for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Grants Managers Network.
As the executive and program assistant, Poland will regularly interact with AIA Colorado members, exhibitors and sponsors, as well as maintain the organization’s data tracking systems.
“Carin is a detail master and has a great understanding of program management and administration,” said Cathy Rosset, CEO of AIA Colorado. “She is a great addition to the AIA team.”
Marisa Pooley joins AIA Colorado with experience in communications and marketing in a variety of industries including nonprofit/private foundation, tourism and professional sports.
Most recently, Pooley was the strategic communications coordinator for the Boettcher Foundation, a privately endowed foundation which invests in Colorado and its residents. She also worked as a strategic communications consultant for Montevibiano—the first zero-emissions vineyard in Italy.
Pooley is very involved in the community, and has served on various committees and boards, including as the at-large director on the AIA Denver board from 2015 to 2016.
A Colorado native, Pooley is a University of Denver graduate and a Boettcher Scholarship recipient.
“We are thrilled to have Marisa join AIA,” said Rosset. “Her talent in communications and marketing will help us to recruit and retain members, and to build a more robust communications and marketing program.”
In her role, Pooley will work with member architects to expand and share the voice of the architecture profession throughout Colorado. She will also support members by strengthening connections to key tools and resources to enhance their professional development.
