On Friday, Aug. 28, AIA Colorado West presented nine local architectural firms with 2015 Design Awards during the annual AIA Colorado West Design Awards Gala held in Snowmass Village, CO. Each of this year’s honorees were deserving members of the Colorado architecture community honored for their design excellence in the form of the built environment.

“We are extremely proud of this year’s Design Award honorees. Their accomplishments are reflective of the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and competence, and each contributes to the built environment surrounding us every day,” Cathy Rosset, Executive Vice President/CEO of AIA Colorado, said.

The 2015 Jury Chair for the Colorado West Design Awards was Greg Papay, FAIA, of Lake|Flato Architects. Papay’s emphasis on merging the craft and science of architecture creates public buildings and places that are tactile and modern, environmentally responsible and authentic, artful and detailed. Papay has been with Lake|Flato Architects since 1993. He has worked on a variety of building types, ranging from the $174 million arena for the NBA-champion San Antonio Spurs to the School of Nursing for the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, which was selected by AIA National as a 2006 Top Ten Green Project.
