As part of Colorado Architecture Month in April, the AIA Colorado South Chapter is pleased to present their annual Box City event! Box city is a fun, engaging, educational and hands-on event that the whole family can enjoy. Children from grade levels pre-K to 5 will have a unique opportunity to design and build a city from the ground up while learning about real world architectural concepts like: urban design, historic preservation, city planning, creative thinking and problem solving, combining art and architecture, construction and engineering concepts and much more.
Help us Build Box City!
The annual Box City for Kids event is in need of volunteers, material donations and sponsors!
Volunteer shifts include set-up, break-down, and assisting the participants at various stations. Contact Chad Hill at email@example.com to sign up for a shift.
The Arvada Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking architects for their 5th annual Sand in the City® event. Sand in the City® is a sand sculpture contest to be held on Saturday, June 23, with a public festival following June 24-25.
Architects who volunteer will be matched with a team in the contest and assist in the planning and sculpting processes. Architects will also create scaled drawing for their team and help make structural decisions upon the decision of the theme.
