Event Details

Buildings play a key part in the health and wellness of their inhabitants. Alongside that, trauma impacts a majority of Americans and influences how they experience other people and the environment around them.

In this session, brought to you by the Equity, Diversity and Inclusiveness Committee, speakers will bring expertise on a ground-breaking understanding of trauma-informed design, exploring how the built environment can help individuals experience resiliency and move toward healing. The team’s research exploring supportive housing provides guidance for how the design of all buildings can be trauma informed and will assist participants in exploring this concept on their buildings. Trauma-informed design requires engagement with the community who will utilize the space, and the conversation will be framed with equity at the forefront. Anyone who participates in building design will benefit from this session.
