Casper Area Innovation Center

Casper Area Innovation Center

GSG Architecture worked with the Casper Area Economic Development Alliance (CAEDA) and Casper College to design and construct the Casper Area Innovation Center (transferring operation to the University of Wyoming 2015) on the Platte River Commons in Casper, Wyoming. It is based in the old Amoco Administration Building. With an addition of approximately 30,000 square feet the facility can host up to 17 start-up businesses. The goal of the center is to assist new, start-up companies by offering affordable space, until they become self-sufficient and profitable enough to be on their own. There were many challenges in how to efficiently connect the addition to the existing facility, working with varying floor elevation differences allowing for easy access between the two buildings. The project was completed in 2012.

Casper Fire-EMS Station No.6

Casper Fire-EMS Station No. 6 is the third fire station completed by GSG Architecture for the City of Casper. Approximately 12,250 square feet, the station encompasses five pull-through apparatus bays designed to utilize a drive-through concept entering and exiting into the bays from Valley Drive in the Paradise Valley Subdivision of Casper. This station includes separate living/office quarters for firefighters, rescue, and hazmat personnel. The living and community spaces accommodate six bedrooms, and common areas such as an exercise room, kitchen, dayroom, restroom/shower space, offices, a meeting room, and outdoor space.

University of Wyoming - Information Library and Learning Center

University of Wyoming - Information Library and Learning Center

GSG, in partnership with Ruffcorn Mott Hinthorne Stine, was retained to update and renovate the main library at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. The Information Library & Learning Center (ILLC) totaled $38 million is construction cost, and added 95,000 square feet to the 188,000-square foot existing library. Completed in October of 2009, the renovation not only incorporated the most up-to-date technology of the time, but also allowed enough flexibility to make future technological developments easy and cost-effective. Part of the updates completed included the improvement / expansion of the library’s computer lab. ILLC is a fabulous contributor and boost to student life on campus. A new main entry was added on the north side of the library, so that students exiting these doors are now deposited into one of the University’s lush quad areas. A new cafe area, flanked by a large bank of windows looking onto the above-mentioned quad area, keeps the students in the library longer. The new facility also includes high-tech conference rooms, meeting rooms, and reading rooms. Another phase was a complete renovation of the University’s current Annex Library, which houses approximately 500,000 volumes. One of the greatest challenges was keeping the existing library fully operational throughout the renovation process, requiring close coordination with the owner and construction manager-at-risk.
