AIA Colorado’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee is celebrating women in architecture through a digital projection exhibit, “Women in Architecture,” in downtown Denver.

AIA Colorado’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusiveness Committee is proud to introduce a digital projection exhibit, “Women in Architecture,” in downtown Denver. Female and female-identifying AIA members (FAIA, AIA, Associate, and AIAS members) will be recognized in an exciting outdoor projection-mapping exhibit honoring women in architecture as part of Denver Theatre District’s “Night Lights Denver” project on the 16th Street Mall. The project recognizes the presence of women in the field of architecture, celebrates their contributions, and aims to change a culture through representation.

In partnership with The Denver Theatre District, AIA Colorado will project faces of underserved architects and the buildings they’ve helped design onto the Daniels & Fisher Clocktower via 10 projectors and 210,000 Lumens. Our mission with the exhibit is to recognize the strong presence of women in the field of architecture, celebrate their contributions, inspire future architects, and change a culture through representation. Until we’re able to project the video, get to know a few of the faces behind the facades below.

FACES OF ARCHITECTURE

“We all have a role to play in taking gender barriers down, and we cannot do it alone. We need each other. Participate, educate, and influence where you have agency to make a difference. Treat people how you expect to be treated and raise your voice when you see injustice. Design and architecture shape our built environment. It is best when all voices are heard.”  -Erin Braunstein
