One of AIA Colorado’s most important roles is the advocacy that it does on behalf of its members’ interests. The AIA Colorado staff, Board of Directors, and committees have been busy for the last few years. Guided by direction from the Board and the dedicated efforts of the AIA Colorado Government Affairs Committee, Committee on the Environment, and Housing Committee, we have been at the center of recent legislative action. With the Governor prioritizing policies to improve Colorado’s housing landscape, we have been actively engaging in the process, offering feedback on draft bills, collaborating with allies, and advocating for favorable legislation.
Read Q2’s Letter from the President, Scott Rodwin, AIA, and learn about the policies we’re working on to alleviate Colorado’s housing crisis here.
AIA Colorado’s Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) will be hosting the annual Summer Leadership Summit (SLS) in Denver this year from July 18-20th. This conference, jointly hosted by the AAH and ACHA (American College of Healthcare Architects), brings together approximately 200 leaders in healthcare design from the U.S. and around the world for two days of presentations and panel discussions addressing the forces that shape the future of healthcare.
Each year, the final day of the conference (Sunday, July 20th) is reserved for project tours of healthcare facilities in the area. As members of the Colorado healthcare design community, we are reaching out to solicit nominations for project tours. If your firm would like to submit a project for consideration, please do so by Friday, April 11th, at 5pm. Full eligibility criteria and submission requirements can be found here.
Being elected to AIA’s College of Fellows represents the highest individual honor bestowed by the Institute upon its members, second only to the Institute’s Gold Medal. Fellowship elevation signifies recognition for an exemplary career with a broad impact on the architectural profession. The focus and purpose of preliminary submittals are to identify how candidates have differentiated themselves from their colleagues by achieving results through significant and substantial contributions. View the preliminary submittal requirements and content here.
Last week, AIA members toured Denver Water’s sustainable and high performance building design. A 2022 AIA Colorado Design Award Merit in Sustainability recipient, members learned how sustainable building practices were integrated to create a high-performance environment.
