True Nature Healing Arts Kiva | Land + Shelter Architecture and Planning and Lea Sisson Architects
This 2024 AIA Colorado Design Award of Honorable Mention project is a subtle insertion to the site, wrapped by a helical open-air access ramp that extends from a public garden, resulting in an integrated, fully accessible space. The petite spa is tucked into the back for privacy and access from the owner’s business while a zen garden and sitting areas are integrated into the building’s roof, which is at grade to complement the existing spaces in the landscape.

Tour Summary:
A cast in place board form concrete refuge anchors an established public garden. The True Nature kiva includes a spiral ramp to a subterranean 100-person auditorium tucked away amidst an interactive garden of reflexology paths, labyrinths and more. Please join us to see modern architecture quietly centering an active, blossoming, communal space.

Arrival/Parking: True Nature parking is well marked at the address and street parking is available in nearby downtown Carbondale. Meet at the entrance to the True Nature Center Café.

Refund policy: Registrations may be transferred up to 24 hours prior to the event by contacting rylee@aiacolorado.org. Registrations cancelled 7 days or more in advance will be refunded 50% of the registration rate. Refunds are unavailable within 7 days of the event.
